On Saturday, February 27, 2010, Lyons Family Dentistry hosted our annual Dentistry from the Heart event, a free day of dentistry for those in need.  The organization was founded in 2001 by a dentist in Florida whose mission was to make people smile.  Our way of giving back to the community was to open our doors from 9:00-4:00 and provide cleanings, fillings, and extractions for those in need of dental care, without the means to pay for it.  This event allowed us to help a great number of people; all we asked for was a smile in return!  We had many volunteers on hand to assist in making this a success, all of whom worked for free.  We all left with a wonderful feeling knowing we helped so many people by both alleviating pain and getting them back on track with their oral health.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who donated their time:

Our compassionate Doctors:  Dr. Alina Lyons and Dr. Lawrence McDonough.

The caring staff: Germaine Buchanan, Heidi Bingham, Danielle Gardella, Katie Giambelluca, Elisabeth Leonard, Margaret McElwee, Kara Siciliano, Desirae Spoto and Deena Weiss.

The BCIT program Director/Instructor: Linda Hultch and BCIT student volunteers:  Denise Rowand, Lisa Consolazio, and Natalia Allen.

Special thanks to: Renata Prawica, Andrew Law for their assistance.  Tom Brophy with Henry Schein Dental for helping to get donations from Crosstex, Dentsply, Kerr Total care and Medicom.  Julie Weisberger, Care Credit Practice Development Manager, who donated food for all of us and Mario & Frank's II Restaurant for their donation and delivery.
